Formation of Friends of Clough Hall Park
FRIENDS OF CLOUGH HALL PARK, KIDSGROVE
Earlier last year a meeting was arranged in Clough Hall Park with a Newcastle Borough Council Officer, group of local residents and Councillors to discuss a number of issues involving the Park.
It became obvious that long term solutions were required including the regeneration and use of the Park and it was agreed to create a Friends of Clough Hall Park Group with the aims of dealing with problems and also to promote more responsible use of the Park taking into account local residents' views. Subsequently a committee was formed with a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and eight officers. The group is supported by Newcastle Borough Council, Kidsgrove Police, local councillors and several other organisations. A Constitution has been adopted which facilitated the opening of a bank account. This Friends Group is a non-political organisation.
Four public meetings have been held with residents who have expressed positive suggestions as to how better use can be made of the Park and also to improve the image. The issues put forward by residents are receiving attention and will be dealt with as soon as possible. The Friends group will take into careful consideration the views of local residents in respect of events or changes in the park.
The first event planned is an EASTER EGG HUNT on EASTER SATURDAY,
7 April for youngsters of primary school age. This will start at 11 am until 1.00 pm; there will be a nominal entrance fee of 50p per child. The event will start at the Cafe Pavilion and the Café will be open where a selection of hot drinks, cakes and biscuits will be available. It is hoped that this event will be the forerunner for future events in the Park. All details of this event will be shown on the Friends section of the Clough Hall Residents web site / http://www.cloughall.co.uk/ together with the minutes of meetings and our Constitution available for viewing. Thanks go to Tesco Stores Kidsgrove , Rotary Club of Kidsgrove, Staffordshire County Council, Newcastle Borough Council and the Talke/Butt Lane/Clough Hall Community Forum for their generous support of this event.
