Introduction of Cath Wohler - Trading Standards
A very interesting talk, highlighting problems with ‘doorstep sales persons', people claiming to be workmen, counterfeit goods (via car boot sales, etc), scams, food labelling, targeting off licences with under age children, proxy buying (older children buying for younger children), use of fireworks, sales of goods act. Trader Register is available and Cath Wohler to forward to Kath Viles for Residents.
Cath answered questions from the Residents and was available during the interval to speak to Residents with any problems. A really interesting topic which was well received and very much appreciated by all members.
Introduction of Dave Elkington - Police - Crime Reduction
Again, another interesting topic, appreciated by the members - Home Security. Highlighting suggestions to help deter the burglar from targeting your property, such as burglar alarms, don't leave ornaments on display, secure fencing, trellis or spiky plants/hawthorn edging on fencing. Don't leave wheelie bins in front of fence. Don't leave ladders outside. Property mark all items in garage or shed. Keep doors locked (even if you are in the house), to name a few.
Dave answered questions from Residents and was also available during the interval to speak to Residents.
