CLOUGH HALL RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 27th JANUARY 2009 AT HOLLINWOOD SHELTERED HOUSING at 7.30pm

 

PRESENT :-

COMMITTEE: - G Sutton, B Collis, J Gallacher, M Moore, C Brough, T Dale, C Gallacher.

 C Brammer, M Martin.

GUEST SPEAKERS: - Police Consultative Committee - Cllr Eddie Boden, Inspector Louise Jarvie, PCSO Colin Stepney.

GUESTS :-  Cllr S Burgess, Cllr S Bower, Cllr T Morrel, Mr R Burns, Mrs T Evans.

The Chairman opened the meeting and thanked all members for joining tonight's meeting, expressing particular thanks to our guests, the Police Consultative Committee. Thanks were also given to Julie Grocott the new Warden at Hollinwood, who has been very helpful during the past few weeks; this help is much appreciated.

The Chairman then covered the following points:-

 

  • Agenda: Introduction G Sutton / C Brough 7.30/7.45

                              Police Consultative Committee. 7.45 / 8.45

                             Refreshments / Buffet  -  8.45 pm

                             Close of Meeting and Raffle draw.

 

  • The Christmas Meeting - the cancellation of this meeting was unavoidable due to illness; some residents were disappointed that the meeting did not go ahead, so tonight to make some amends all drinks and food will be free.

 

  • 31A Westmorland - next Surgery will be on Wednesday the 18th February at 6.00 pm at Hollinwood.

 

  • Minutes of last meeting available for residents to take.

 

  • Vouchers from Bodymech available for CHRA members - 15 % discount on any mechanical and bodywork jobs within the period Feb 1st to 31st May 2009.

 

  • Leaflets available - (i) from Beat the Cold (ii) ‘How to Identify a Stroke'.

 

  • Next meeting to be held on Tuesday March 24th when the guest speakers will be Faye Lambert of the North Staffs Rail Partnership, and Sgt Maxfield and Dave Woodward who will give a talk on ‘Murder Most Foul'.

 

  • Trevor Hughes from Age Concern will be the guest speaker at the April 28th meeting - he will talk about direct payments, care allowance, attendance allowance, etc and advise on how to protect the home should a family member have to go into care.

 

  • Members were asked to speak to the Chairman or any other Committee Member if there were particular topics they would like to see addressed in CHRA meetings.

 

Chris Brough then provided updates on a possible computer course at Clough Hall School which again will be free, and outlined the items to be included in the course.  He also provided an update in respect of the latest credit card scam.

 

At this point the Chairman handed over to the Police Consultative Committee where Inspector Jarvie gave a brief update in respect of our area and answered fully many questions from the Floor.
