        CLOUGH HALL RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 13th SEPTEMBER 2005

PRESENT : Graham Sutton (Chairman),Michael Moore(Vice Chairman),Kath Viles(Secretary),Correna Gallacher(Treasurer).

GUESTS  : Clr Silvia Burgess(Town Mayor Kidsgrove),Sue Brown (William Sutton Housing),Inspector Neil Sherratt , PC David Woodward,Tina Evans (Talke Pitts Residents Association, Rev Paul Howard (Rector St Martins Talke),Mr & Mrs Hamblett(Banbury Street)

  • 1. WELCOME / INTRODUCTION ( GRAHAM SUTTON )
  • Chairman thanked Residents for the excellent Attendance.
  • Chairman confirmed that three Donations had been received : -

Transfer of Funds from Old Clough Hall Neighbourhood Watch Funds £180 .68 .

Resident Donation £25 Cash

Outside sourced Donation £25 Cash

Chairman confirmed that all the above had been written to, thanking them for their support and assuring them that the donations would be put to best possible use.

  • Chairman confirmed that several Residents from Butt Lane had approached him asking why they had been excluded from our Association, the inference being that we are trying to create an US and THEM situation. These Residents were all told that the Area we are covering is big enough (550 properties) and we are currently not in a position to expand. Chairman provided his own telephone number and offered assistance in helping them to create their own Residents Association, no further contact made.
  • Chairman thanked the Residents who have contacted him Post our last meeting, the confidence shown and the hospitality is very much appreciated.
  • 2. MINUTES OF MEETING 12TH JULY WERE ACCEPTED AS A TRUE AND ACCURATE RECORD.
  • 3. MR M READMAN /MARILYN CANNING (CLOUGH HALL SCHOOL)
  • Mr Readman introduced himself and Marilyn Canning.

Marilyn gave a comprehensive view of school activities, the scope and detail of this talk is covered by the attached Hand-Out from Clough Hall School. This was an excellent presentation and provided the Association with a clear insight of the varied work undertaken at the School.

This was followed by Mr Readman who addressed the Issues and Problems identified at previous Association Meetings.

Mr Readman confirmed that a member of the School will be Co-Opted to our Committee.

The overall reaction to the presentation was excellent. There is a CU Clean Up Kidsgrove Campaign Meeting on the 21st Sept at 2.30 pm at the School , this will be attended by G Sutton , B Sutton , T Mottram , C Gallacher .

We should consider this Meeting as a starting point to work with the School with the long term aim of helping to resolve our Issues /Problems .

  • 4. REV PAUL HOWARD " Rector St Martins Talke
  • Paul gave a brief talk explaining that his Parish Boundries JUST run into our area and his good wishes for the success of our Association are very much appreciated.
  • 5. BREAK FOR TEA/COFFEE
  • 6. PHIL HOPKINS NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
  • Phil gave a talk explaining the benefits of joining Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and pointed out the benefits of the Watch Out System. Staffordshire Police are one of only two Police Forces in the Country to use the Watch Out System.

North Staffs Division Neighbourhood Watch are holding a Conference at Yarnfield on Saturday 8th October from 9.30am to 4.00pm . Kath Viles and Graham Sutton will be attending .

  • 7. DAVID WOODWARD POLICE COMMUNITY CONSTABLE
  • David explained that following our last meeting Laser Camera's had been in use in three areas of the Community .These have been used by PCO'S and whilst they do not have the power to Stop and Fine, of the 8 cases where speed limits were exceeded , warning letters have been sent to the offending Motorists . It was agreed that Lasers should prove to be an excellent deterrent.

David also provided update in terms of Police difficulties in dealing with Off Road Bikes.

  • Update provided in respect of the current position with 31A Westmoreland.
  • Update provided in terms of Car Boot Sales in Clough Hall Park.
  • Kath provided copies of last Minutes, Listing of Issues /Problems,

Agenda , Constitution , Details of Meetings for next year .

  • 9. CHAIRMAN THANKED RESIDENTS FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND CLOSED THE MEETING
