    STOKE-ON-TRENT FOOD BANK

The Stoke-on-Trent Food Bank, which is one of 185 organised though out the UK under the auspices of The Trussel Trust, a Christian Charitable organisation, and is designed to help individuals and families in crisis through the provision of 3 day emergency food supplies.

Local car professionals in the Stoke-on-Trent area refer people with a food voucher, to a Stoke-on-Trent distribution centre, of which there are currently 8, where they are given their food supplies, a cup of tea/coffee and help in finding other professionals who can help them out of their crisis.

The general public can help this work by donating dry and tinned food stuffs, either to participating churches or at the publicised food collections at supermarkets. During Harvest Festivals held at local schools and churches in October 2012, 16 tons of food was donated.

From when Stoke-on-Trent Food Bank opened in May 2012 until December 2012, it supplied 3 days emergency food to 3500 people. The Swan Bank Methodist Food Bank in Burslem, in 2 hours on the Wednesday before Christmas provided 75 people, comprising 41 adults and 34 children with food supplies.

Food during the above period has also been provided to people with vouchers from many of the districts surrounding Stoke-on-Trent, where currently no Food Bank exists.

For further details of the Food Bank and how you can be involved contact : The Stoke-on-Trent Food Bank, Wesley Hall Methodist Church, Nobletett Road, Sneyd Green, ST1 6HR Tel. 01782 281818.
