AGM – Tuesday 24th July 2007 Held at Butt Lane Community Centre

Chairman opened the meeting, welcomed the speakers and thanked everyone for attending.

Chairman introduced Keith Blease-Bourne – North Staffs Mediation, who gave a brief outline of their work. They are a Registered Charity, whose aim is to have conflict free areas. They help neighbours who are in dispute, put an agreement together and with the help of both parties involved, try to mediate a solution. They work very closely with junior school children, helping them to become mediators. They offer totally confidential and free advice, but the public cannot go direct to them, instead, using the services of Anti Social Behaviour Officers, Police, etc.

Chairman handed over to Catherine Fox – Anti Social Behaviour Office– Newcastle Council – Community Safety Officer – who gave a brief outline of her duties.
Catherine is the main point of contact for Kidsgrove Area for victims and complaints regarding Anti Social Behaviour. This can be done by phone, letter or e-mail. The complaint is ‘logged’ with a unique number and investigations are started regarding the complaint. Person making the complaint is kept informed at all times. Residents can contact them anonymously. Catherine stated she would like to introduce ‘Anti Social Behaviour Surgeries’ in the area. Leaflets and business card were distributed at the meeting, or for more information, regarding telephone number, etc – contact Graham.

AGM Process Chairman’s Report: Graham read Chairman’s report, which all members had a copy of.

Charity Quiz Night – raised £300.00 for Douglas Macmillan Nurses. The event was acknowledged in the Sentinel during the week. A special thank you to Brian Collis for arranging. We are hoping to organise another Quiz Night later this year.

Planning for Real – Rev. Paul Howard gave a brief outline and there was a 3D model at the meeting, giving residents the opportunity to highlight Issue’s and opinion’s of what was needed to make the area better.

Carol Singing – We are planning to have this event again this year.

Christmas Dinner – Again, we are hoping to have this event again this year.

Issues we have dealt with

Unit at Westmorland Avenue – which was noticeably much better now.
Clough Hall School, Police, Wooded areas, drains, footpaths
Park Stores liquor licence, Car Boot Sales in the Park
Audit

Graham read through the Audit with the Residents.

Constitution
Small change made to the Constitution – Item 6 – Monies raised replaced with Asset Management. Query was raised by Mr K Lee which Chairman replied to.

Vice Chairman made many thanks to various people including, John Taylor, John Evans, Sylvia Burgess, Mary Maxfield and Kath Viles – who would not be standing again for re-election as Secretary.

Minutes of Meeting held 11 September 2007 accepted as a true and accurate record. Proposed G Sutton – Seconded J Gallacher.

After the re-election of committee members, all residents enjoyed a buffet.
